Volunteer Opportunities
Exhibit Hours: Dinosaurs Unearthed in the Bank of America Gallery will be open starting May 1, 2010 10am–5pm Tuesday–Saturday & Noon–5pm Sunday. Volunteers hosting thru the initial shifts of the day should be in place 10 minutes before the gates open.
C-Level Greeter: Greet guests at the bottom of the escalators. Check their tickets to ensure they are for Dinosaurs Unearthed (exhibit). Direct ticketholders for Dinosaurs Alive! 3D (movie) back up the escalators to the Extreme Screen. Assist guests with directions to other attractions they may be visiting, like the planetarium, Friend-a-Saurus Workshop, or Science City. Be mindful of show schedules and attraction hours. Monitor the radio for alerts from USKC guest service and security staff.
Gallery Door Host: This is the highest priority position and must be filled at all times. Greet guests at the entrance door to the exhibit gallery. Remind them to take advantage of the restrooms and water fountains before entering the gallery. Remind them that no food or drink is allowed within the exhibit, but camera use is acceptable and encouraged. Monitor the radio for alerts from USKC guest service and security staff. Radio USKC staff for customer service as needed. Radio Security Dispatch in emergency situations.
Dig Site Host: Help collect and distribute tools to guests wishing to excavate fossils in the Dig Site. Help guests identify their finds. Sweep up escaped matrix as needed and refill the Dig Site, re–burying specimens for future guests to discover.
Touch Station Host: Ensure the touch specimens are being treated with the proper amount of respect to mitigate damage from mishandling and vandalism. Monitor the flow of guests through the gallery and help manage bottlenecks when they form by organizing lines approaching interactivity stations.
Gallery Egress Host: Monitor the gallery exit/gift shop entrance. Mitigate unauthorized entry. Assist guests with directions to other attractions they may be visiting next, like the 3D movie, planetarium show, Friend-a-Saurus Workshop, or Science City. Be mindful of show schedules and attraction hours.
